Sign Outs

Most families have summer vacation plans and other activities that will conflict with some swim meets.  No family should feel obligated to attend any swim meet.  If you know that your swimmer is unable to attend a meet, please sign him or her out of the meet in the sign-out book located in the Lifeguard Shack.  The meets are listed in chronological order.  Signing out is MANDATORY!  Our meets can’t run efficiently if swimmers do not properly sign out of meets.  Parents of older children should not rely on their swimmers to sign out—please check to make sure it has been done!

Each meet has a deadline by which non-participating swimmers must be signed out.  For our Monday night meet, the deadline is the Thursday prior.  For our Wednesday night meets, the deadline is the Saturday prior.  For our Saturday meets, the deadline is the Wednesday prior.  (Big Meets are handled differently.  Information will be posted at the pool.)  If there is no sign out sheet in the book for the meet you wish to sign out of, the meet has already been scheduled.  Please contact our Desk Manager, Allison Ridenhour, immediately if this occurs.  She can be reached at 932-8208, 510-599-2474 or ridenhoura@aol.com.   We understand that emergency absences are sometimes unavoidable.  If such a situation occurs, please call Allison.

Although families should feel free to sign out of dual meets, it is our hope that they will make every effort to attend the Walnut Creek Swim Conference Championship Meet (known as Conference).  This meet is always a highlight of the year, and is considered to be the most important meet for the team.  This year it will be held at Acalanes High School on August 8th and 9th.   To make our best showing ever, we need a full turn out of swimmers, so please try to make sure that you are available for this great event.  Entrance fees for each swimmer are paid well in advance so please give the coaches and the team plenty of warning if you are unable to participate.

See the Subs Sign-ups list if you need to find a sub to work a meet job on your behalf.

Sub-on-Deck
The Committee is introducing a new procedure on the deck; it's called "Sub-on-deck." If you are not present when the time comes for you to do for your job at an away or home meet, the Sub-on-Deck will step in for your job. Just like last year, the cost of the Sub is $60 to you: $30 to the Sub, and $30 to the Team. This stop-gap measure is to account for the all-to-frequent occurrences where people may have been well intentioned, but failed to acquire a replacement for their jobs when they were unable to attend a meet.

The Sub-on-Deck will be an adults-only position. If you are interested in participating in this program, send us an email at swimteam@dewing.com
